The August Lunch Is On

We will be meeting at Doogan's of Aurora at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 21st.  You can leave a  yes/no comment at the end of this post to tell us if you will be there.  I have also added the link to Doogan's web page to our list of recommended links on the right of this page.  Check it out for menu, directions, etc.

We have reserved a room just for us and it will accommodate our group easily, so come one, come all.

Picnic In The Park

Our first attempt at an outdoor lunch was blessed with surprisingly good weather.  After nighttime showers, the skies cleared, the sun came out and we arrived at Hudson Springs Park with good thoughts and food.  Vacations and other commitments depleted our numbers this time, but that is not unusual during the summer.  Thanks to all for bringing a delicious selection of picnic goodies.

I'm glad that we didn't plan a picnic supper because, by 5:00 pm, Sue and I were in the basement riding out a tornado warning.  I'm sure many of you were in a similar situation.

There are plans in the works for the date and location of our next lunch.  I will share information as soon as it is finalized.

The Picnic Day Is Getting Closer

The Hudson Springs Park Picnic is one week from tomorrow.  Plenty of time to sign up and tell everyone what and whom you may be bringing with you.  You can leave a comment at the end of this post.  Check earlier comments on older posts to see what others have shared.  Sue and I stopped at the park today and took some pictures, so I wanted to share them here

Note:  Thank you to Hudson resident Mary Ann Wehrmann for making the arrangements for us to use the park.

We are at the May Pavilion.  After you pass the guard hut, the parking lot will be on your left and our pavilion is to the right.  You can drive to the pavilion to drop items off and then circle back to the parking lot, if you want.

I haven't mentioned this before, but I think that everyone should bring their own beverage and table service.  If you have a picnic table cloth to use on the tables in the pavilion, bring that along too.

As the picture below shows, there are two, in-ground grills near the pavilion.  If there is a desire from anyone to cook using these grills, let's discuss that in our comments so that we don't end up with 25 bags of charcoal (or none), etc.  I'm not promoting grilling, I just don't want to deny anyone.

Finally, there are restrooms located in the building near the parking lot, just a short walk from our picnic location.

So, lets get those comments flowing and get this picnic planned.  I never had a problem getting a group of teachers to start talking, so crank it up people.
